According to data from NOAA's Storm Prediction Center, there were 69 preliminary tornado reports during October, compared to the 1991-2010 average of 61. Several small tornado outbreaks were reported during the month, but all of the tornadoes that occurred were categorized as weak (rated EF-2 or less). However, one tornado-related fatality was reported in Little River County, Arkansas, where an EF-2 tornado hit a mobile home on October 13th. The October 2014 tornado count brings the year-to-date preliminary number of tornadoes to 831. There were 687 confirmed tornadoes for January-July, with 144 tornado reports still pending for August–October. The 1991-2010 average number of tornadoes during the January-October period is 1,170. Depending on activity during the remainder of the year, the 2014 annual tornado count could be one of the lowest values of the past three decades
