Alaska summer temperature extremes

During the summer period, Alaska experienced temperature extremes at both ends of the spectrum. In Bethel, the high temperature of 88°F on June 18th was a record for the date. The only higher temperature ever recorded at Bethel was 90°F June 17, 1926. Nome had a high of 86°F on June 19th — a record high for June and ties the all-time record set on July 8 1968 and July 31 1977. In Kotzebue, a high of 85°F on June 18th tied the record for June of 85°F set June 22, 1991 and July 5, 1958. Conversely on August 31, Bettles reached a low temperature of 15°F, besting the previous record low for August of 22°F set in 1974.
